Why I Am a Dispatcher
Maryann Gallagher-Little, IDACS Coordinator, Johnson County Public Safety Communications
I have always wanted to be involved in law enforcement ever since I was a young child. I started my career in dispatching July 25, 2005 when I was hired part time at Edinburgh Police Department. I knew from the moment I sat in the seat my first solo shift, this was my life.
My desire has always been to help people whether it be out in the community or on the phone. The first impression as a dispatcher that you want to leave in the publics eyes is “wow they really care about me and what I am dealing with!” I know it makes me feel wonderful knowing that I have made someone’s day a lot better just by the help I was able to provide. I have been a full time dispatcher for over 10 years now and really love my job!
