Southfield Public Safety

In the last year our center has gone from a very low morale center to a high morale center.  We were faced with unprecedented short-staffing which equaled a lot of overtime and at that time, our City Administration decided to look into consolidating with the County.  It was very tough on all of us.  We lost two more people.  We did not consolidate and the dispatch staff was willing to do whatever it took to keep our center running at a high level as it has always run.  They agreed to a major scheduling change and worked to train new people — we even had five trainees at one time!  While we have not yet completely staffed our center, because of their willingness to be flexible and their dedication our staff has increased significantly and all of the employees are much happier at work.
