Just Today

So many of the stories over the years you think you will remember, just seem to blend into each other because what we do is just a day at work. We only dispatch LE so we don’t get the difficult medical calls but we do listen to radio traffic from our Sheriff’s Office with fire and rescue. Several years ago they received a call from a young woman who had missed a low water bridge and had driven into a river. My partner and I knew exactly where she was as it is a familiar area to everyone. We listened to the gut-wrenching radio traffic until there was no more. I can’t imagine how the dispatcher was feeling knowing the terror that poor girl must have gone through. I don’t think the dispatcher continued her career…
