Puddles and Sissy
The side kick(s) that always has my back no matter what even when I am having a bad day or just need to get away would have to be my twin Chihuahuas. I have been a 911 dispatcher since 2018 and I have taken a lot of difficult calls. However when my own husband passed away a year ago I never thought that I would have made it without him.
Both of my Chihuahuas have been my saving grace for more than 5 years now. When I have a bad call I go home snuggle up to them and just let loose. They just set there and let me cuddle and hold them. Sometimes I believe that they can really hear what I am saying because when I start to think about my late husband or those bad calls and the tears start to flow both of them are right there to comfort me.
As a dispatcher we go through a lot including emotional changes. When my husband passed away I never imagined that would still be setting in my set at my desk with my headset on taking more calls; however I know deep down my husband is in the back of my head saying, “you got this and people need you, do what you do best”.
What makes my Chihuahuas special is simply this… they are my saving grace, they are always there when I need them and they don’t ever leave my side unless I am at work. They are treated just like a human and you could say they are now my ride or die side kicks. They ride in a car seat, they wear clothes, shoes, and coats. They go with me on vacation to the beach, we have spa days, and movie nights together. These are my true side kicks.
